I am still smoke free!
Ok, so it has been a week since I posted. It was a busy week, but I am still smoke free!!
Finished up basic training for the first round of seasonal help, and now I am off until July 7! Hooray! Hopefully I won't end up in the hospital again like I did LAST summer vacation.
Now I just need to figure out what I will do with the time off. I know one or two days will be spent reorganizing the house, especially in light of looking at new houses and speaking with a real estate agent...

Day 10
WooHoo!
Today is day 10 since I quit smoking (ok, I had ONE cigarette on Tuesday) and no one is dead, I am not in jail, and no one's house was burned to the ground. I think that is definitely an accomplishment!!! Four more days and I will have broken my record for longest time quit, and that was 14 or 15 years ago, and not by choice!
Today also marks the one year anniversary of having my vacation ruined by appendicitis. Ahh, memories (or amnesia as the case may be) of Morphine! LOL
The weekend has been, for the most part, uneventful. It was a two day weekend, unfortunately, but as of this coming Thursday I will be off for 10 days!!! WooHoo!!! This week I get to do more all-day training classes with the new recruits, so that should be fun...

The Announcement...
I got a new kitty!
His name is Harry (Houdini). I decided to go from an all-white cat, with a grey spot (Houdini), to an all-black cat with a white spot :-) Yes, I know, my mind works in odd ways...Just ask the two dogs, Avery and Murphy (both girls) named after Murphy Brown and her Dan Quayle-irking child Avery, though Avery is the older dog. Najinski is the only one who has been spared this odd naming structure, since he is not technically my cat :-)

Day Two..
Well, today is day two of not smoking, and I am still hanging in there. I do have to admit though, I feel like I am eating non-stop to compensate. I think I need to get some lollipops or something (you know, the whole oral fixation thing).

Make a Difference!
R.I.P. Houdini
Oh my God! This has been a really rough day for me. Those of you who aren't really pet people may not fully understand this post.
At 1:19 a.m. today, my oldest cat Houdini passed away in my arms. He was just a few months shy of being 9 years old. It was completely unexpected and sudden. He was next to me on the bed, purring, got up, walked over my legs, came back to lie down next to me, stretched, made an odd raspy gasp, and was gone. The vet speculates it may have been a blood clot or the feline equivalent of a heart attack, due to the extremely sudden and fast nature of it.
It may sound silly, but I was crying non-stop until 4:00 a.m., and have been doing so periodically since I got up this morning.

We are experiencing technical difficulties...please stand by
